Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated September 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") sets out what you may and may not do with SendBeam. It forms part of our Terms of Service, and it applies to every workspace on your account, to everyone you invite into them, and to anything sent through our API.
SendBeam sends on shared infrastructure. One sender mailing people who never asked to hear from them damages delivery for everyone else on the platform, which is why most of what follows is about consent rather than content.
Permission to email
You may only email people who have given you permission to email them, and you must be able to show where that permission came from. In the UK and EU, marketing email to individuals generally requires consent under PECR and the UK GDPR; you are responsible for having a lawful basis for the people you upload, and for the content you send them.
You must not:
- send to purchased, rented, swapped, scraped or otherwise third-party lists, however they are described to you;
- email addresses harvested from websites, directories, social networks or public records;
- import a list you cannot account for — if you do not know how an address was collected, do not upload it;
- continue emailing someone who has unsubscribed, or re-add them to a list to start again.
We record the source and time against every contact added through a SendBeam form or the API so that you have that evidence when you need it. Free workspaces must use double opt-in on every list; paid workspaces may turn it off, but we recommend leaving it on.
What every message must contain
- a truthful "From" name and address that identifies you, and a subject line that reflects the message;
- a working unsubscribe link in marketing email, honoured promptly — we add a one-click unsubscribe header to marketing mail as well;
- a postal address or other real-world identity for the sender, where the law requires it;
- a sending domain you control and have verified with us. You may not send from a domain you do not own.
Content we do not allow
You may not use SendBeam to send, host or link to:
- anything unlawful, or that promotes unlawful activity;
- phishing, credential harvesting, malware, or links to either;
- content that impersonates a person, business or public body, or that forges message headers;
- sexually explicit material, or content that sexualises minors;
- content that incites violence, terrorism, or hatred against people on the basis of a protected characteristic;
- harassment of a named individual;
- counterfeit goods, or material that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights;
- deceptive claims — including false urgency, fake invoices, fabricated testimonials, or health and financial claims you cannot substantiate.
Uses that need to be agreed with us first
These are not automatically banned, but they attract disproportionate complaints and we will not carry them without talking to you first. Tell us before you send if your programme involves:
- gambling, betting or gaming for money;
- cryptocurrency, token sales, trading signals or related investment promotion;
- multi-level marketing, affiliate-only mailings, or "work from home" and income-claim offers;
- short-term high-cost credit, debt advice or credit repair;
- nutritional supplements, weight loss, or CBD and similar products;
- list broking, lead rental, or sending on behalf of a client whose consent records you cannot see;
- adult services, dating, or escort services.
Your account
You may not:
- use someone else's account, or let anyone use yours, without their knowledge;
- register under a false identity, or misrepresent who you or your business are;
- claim to be associated with or endorsed by SendBeam without a written agreement;
- present SendBeam as your own product, or white-label the Service, without a written agreement;
- open a new account or workspace to get around a suspension. If we suspend you, that decision follows you; opening another account to continue is itself a breach.
Our plans are priced by the number of contacts you hold. Deleting and re-adding the same contacts, or spreading one audience across several workspaces or accounts, to stay under a plan limit is a breach of this Policy — the workspaces on an account pool their usage precisely so that running several sites does not need several bills.
Technical conduct
You may not:
- work around plan limits, rate limits or suppression by any means;
- share, publish or resell your API keys, or give a third party access you would not give yourself;
- use SendBeam to relay mail for someone else's platform, or to resell sending capacity, without a written agreement with us;
- probe, scan or load-test the Service, tamper with or disable any security control, or attempt to reach another customer's data;
- scrape, crawl, mirror or automate the SendBeam application itself outside our documented API;
- submit fake or automated signups to forms, or use SendBeam to send one-time codes or password resets on behalf of an unrelated service you do not operate.
Bounce and complaint thresholds
Deliverability is measured, not judged. We look at each workspace's recent sending and act on the numbers rather than on opinion.
- Complaints — there is a warning level and, above it, a level at which sending pauses. Both are set deliberately stricter than what Gmail and Yahoo ask of senders, because one sender past their line costs delivery for everyone on the shared pool.
- Bounces — the same, with a warning level and a pause level.
A pause needs a meaningful sample, so a single complaint on a small list will not stop you sending. If your workspace is warned or paused we tell you the measured rate and the level it crossed, so you always know exactly where you stand. Addresses that hard bounce or complain are suppressed automatically for that workspace and are never emailed again, and you cannot remove a suppression to re-contact someone who complained.
A pause is not a punishment; it is how we stop a list problem becoming a delivery problem for you and for everyone else. Fix the underlying list and tell us, and we will lift it.
How we enforce this
Some of this is automatic and some of it is done by a person. Where we can, we will warn you and give you a chance to put it right.
Where the problem is serious — phishing, malware, illegal content, or sending to a list you clearly have no permission for — we may pause or suspend sending immediately and without notice, because the alternative is letting it continue. Repeated or deliberate breaches can end in termination under the Terms of Service, and we may keep a record of suppressed addresses after an account closes so that they are not emailed again.
Depending on what we find, we may do any of the following:
- warn you, and give you a period to put it right;
- pause or rate-limit sending for a workspace, or for the whole account;
- remove offending content, or suppress a list we have reason to believe was not consented;
- suspend or close the account under the Terms of Service;
- disclose relevant information to law enforcement or a regulator where we are required to, or where we reasonably believe a crime has been committed;
- recover from you the reasonable costs we incur dealing with a serious or deliberate breach.
We are not liable for losses arising from action we take in good faith under this Policy, including sending that is paused or an account that is closed.
If you think we have got it wrong, say so through the contact form and a person will look at it. We would rather correct a bad call than defend it.
Reporting abuse
If you have received mail sent through SendBeam that breaches this Policy, report it through the contact form. Include the full message headers if you can — they identify the sender, and without them we usually cannot. We investigate every report, and we do not pass your details to the sender.
If you simply want the mail to stop, the unsubscribe link in the message works immediately and does not require the sender's cooperation.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy as the law changes or as we see new kinds of abuse. The date at the top shows the current version, and material changes will be notified to account owners by email.
